Standing up to Support Idaho Teachers
A message from Idaho Leaders United
Dear Members and Friends:
School is underway in many Idaho districts. Kids and parents are gearing up for another busy fall of school, sports, their hometown Idaho traditions.
Unfortunately, many teachers and school board members are also preparing in a different way. During the past few years, we’ve seen an alarming rise in vitriol and threats against teachers and school board members. Recently, Idaho’s Teacher of the Year made national news after she left the state due to intimidation and angry behavior from some parents in her district.
Idaho can’t afford to lose great teachers during a time when school districts are struggling to hire staff. It’s up to all of us to make sure that we treat these important community members with respect and kindness. Take a moment today to thank a teacher in your life and show them your support.

I have lived in Idaho since 1965, moving here as I started high school. I became a fire chief early in my career and served as Chief of the fire department for 23 years, at Bonneville County Fire District, Caldwell Fire Department, Burley Fire Department and as Interim Chief in Kuna fire department.
In recent years, I have become increasingly concerned about our political situation in our country. I see both the extreme right and extreme left becoming more entrenched in their positions and refusing to find a way to work with each other to resolve the many issues that are facing us as a nation.
I have seen those who are leading the parties becoming more extreme and controlling. They demand universal loyalty to increasingly extreme positions dictated by party platforms created by a small minority of members. They seem to be making rules for elections that secure their extreme positions by virtue of less participation in the various election or party voting processes.
I signed onto Idaho Leaders United because I want to live in a state where people of all kinds can live in peace and have respect for each other. I want a state that can build unity among diverse groups in the community, respecting other people with differing points of view. This is what our Founders intended in our great Constitution and Bill of Rights.
